Hopes and Dreams

We would like you to respond to the following questions. There will be time in class for you to reflect on these questions.

There are many ways of doing this right and no way of doing it wrong (unless you don’t try).

You can use any format you would like for your responses: visual art, dance, drama, video, technological tools such as Prezi, poetry, writing, etc. If it is possible because of the format, please put this in your portfolio. Otherwise, think about how you can document what you did.

Here is a link to your portfolio:

  • We all know that dreams are not real, yet we use the word “dream” a lot. Why do we use the word “dream” for our most treasured desires and what we hope will come true?
  • Who was Don Quixote?
  • What is the value of an impossible dream?
  • What does “deferred” mean? What does it mean in relation to dreams? How might it apply to children in schools?
  • Who was Langston Hughes and what did he do? What is your favorite work that he did? If you don’t have a favorite, find one!! How does this speak to you?
